Development Representative

Remote - Indianapolis, IN

Sinapis is looking for a Development Representative who will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a robust major gift portfolio that also includes outreach and engagement of capital campaign giving efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will execute aspects of the major gift plan, including research and identification of prospects; cultivation and relationship management of the portfolio; proposal development and solicitation; and ongoing stewardship of donors. This is an entrepreneurial position and, to succeed, a candidate must be an intrinsically motivated self-starter who is able to take initiative and establish a long-term, vibrant, and engaged constituency of major Sinapis supporters.

Location: Remote, proximity to urban center preferred

Expected Hours: Full-time

Experience: 2+ years in a direct major gift fundraising role or comparable

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Grow giving by $250,000 within two years from new and inherited donors
  • Manage a major gifts portfolio; qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these individuals by conducting on average 30 visits or touch-points each month, meeting in person with or reaching out to current and prospective donors
  • Collaborate with the CEO to help direct their attention and activity towards donors in your portfolio.
  • Direct a growing donor-centric major donor program, working closely with the Director of Development to ensure that these efforts are integrated with all of Sinapis’ existing development and outreach work
  • Cultivate and expand current giving and campaign giving donors and integrate campaign gift objectives into major individual donor requests in collaboration with the Director of Development
  • Monitor ongoing data to achieve major and capital campaign gift commitment goals
  • Initiate and manage prospect research on individuals through the organization's files, giving records, online resources, and through donor giving databases
  • Working with the marketing team, ensure donor and prospect outreach are on brand, on message, and on strategy
  • Working with the development team, ensure that all aspects of donor giving are accurately recorded and reported and that all donor/prospect tracking is consistent with protocols
  • Serve as a member of the development team and participate in selected internal meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years in a direct major gift fundraising role or relevant sales, or donor relations experience
  • Direct donor and prospect interaction with skills in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Entrepreneurial and creative approach to fundraising
  • A heart for the Sinapis mission and a passion for alleviating poverty through private sector development
  • Operational and administrative experience
  • Firm handle on fundraising theories and methodology
  • Solid understanding of business, entrepreneurship, and missions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Strong character and integrity
  • Ability to work independently in a small team environment
